Weapons of Mass DistractionPayday Loans, Pawn Shops, and Emergency Cash

I've been broke before, but I've never been so desperate as to go to one of those places you see in the shady parts of town and get a "payday loan".  Basically you write them a check and they hold it until you get paid (for a fee of course).  This ranks right up there with pawn shawps in my mind.  It seems that the entire purpose of these 2 entities is to take advantage of people that are desparate and have no choice.  "Come on down to Billy's Payday Loans and we'll charge you some outrageous amount of money just so you can make it until you get paid again.  Then once we cash your check, you will be missing all that money that you borrowed, plus some, further digging yourself into a hole."   I can't imagine myself ever going into one of those places.  I hope I don't ever need to.  If you are here looking for an emergency payday loan I'm sure there's a sponsored link somewhere around here that can assist you.

While I'm on the subject, am I the only person that finds those Money Tree commercials to be extremely stupid and annoying?  With any luck that company is local to me and the rest of you people in other places in the country don't have to see those lame ads on TV.
