Weapons of Mass DistractionSex.com Domain Hijacker Arrested

I was planning on writing something about this guy a few days ago when all of the sudden the story about him being caught popped up today.  To make a long story short, many years ago a guy send a forged domain transfer letter to Network Solutions, who transferred sex.com from the owner to himself.  When the real owner complained they wouldn't do anything about it because they don't handle domain disputes.  He then took the thief to court and finally got his domain back years later, along with a huge settlement for damages.  Well the thief ran off to mexico, and had his money in overseas accounts, so the owner never got his money.  It is questionable whether he will get the money even now, if it is all hidden in offshore accounts.

This has to be the biggest case of social engineering that I have ever heard of.  The guy made millions of dollars by selling ads on the stolen domain.

So today the update to the story is that he was living in a mansion in mexico and was deported for immigration reasons.. so now he is in US custody, and who knows what is going to happen.
